Welcome to Joomla! 1.6.... ZT (JV) Template upgrading.

Ok I've been trying to modify some ZT Templates/JV Templates to work in Joomla! 1.6. There has to be more of you out there that would like to change over to 1.6 and continue to use one of the excellent templates from this club on your 1.6 site.

I've found a few things on adapting Joomla! 1.5 templates to work in Joomla! 1.6:

I have been able to get most functions of JV Bellus working in 1.6. However, I still am unable to get the jv-mainmenu to work or even show up in 1.6. Does anyone have any insight for me? Is the mainmenu a module that is part of the template? Does that menu have a designated module position?

By using the instructions in the link above, I was able to change template "params" to "fields" so Joomla 1.6 can understand. This way the template specific options like menu type (moo menu, css menu, split menu) appear when you go into the template settings through the template manager in Joomla 1.6 administrator.

Although I can adjust the parameter settings now, I still can't figure out how to make the jv_menu appear on the front end. Any ideas?

Hi,

To make the menu system work on joomla 1.6, you have to re-write some lib and menu files! please check and modify our lib/menu file to upgrade them, or you can wait for our official template upgrade!

I've been trying to find what other code in the libs and menu files that I need to change for 1.6. I've already changed "defined( '_JEXEC' ) or die( 'Restricted access' );" to "defined('_JEXEC') or die;" in the jv_tools.php and jv_vars.php libs files.

Could you help me with what other changes need to made to make your JV menu work in J1.6?
